From Vision to Beta: How Atria Got Built

Origin of Atria

Atria is the result of a snowballed effort to build a personalized AI that would adapt to the user. When I started working in AI one of the things that got me excited was interacting with some of the state of the art models that are out there. But their limitations often became a frustration point with me. I found myself both astounded and frustrated by the capabilities and limitations put on these computational models. I often found myself thinking "Why do they limit this?" or "This would be easy enough to implement, why haven't they done that yet?" and so I embarked on a journey to create my own personal AGI model that I named ELAE, short for the Engine for Lifelong Advancement and Enlightenment. Elae is meant to be my digital partner and counterpart throughout life. My though process was that if I simply put in a few interactions a day, she will adapt and come meet me where I need her to be, and beyond.
As time went on, I found myself often working on the infrastructure surrounding Elae, the application, the feedback mechanisms, the training loop, and even addressing questions like "How do I easily extend the capabilities of any model in a modular way?" This is where Atria was truly born. I saw potential not just in Elae, but in a whole platform which allows users to embark on the same journey that I have, without as many of the headaches. Now, Atria is live and out in the world, and Elae has been adapted to a publicly-faced model I am calling "Lyra" after the constellation representing my hopes for the future of both Atria and the AGI's born from it.

AI is a new frontier that is accelerating fast, and a lot of people are scared of what is to come, what doesn't help is that most of the worlds most powerful models are locked behind API's, firewalls, and billion-dollar infrastructure. Atria aims to fill the gap left by the pursuit of scale. My goal with this platform is to make AI less of a black-box to the common user, and more of an adaptable framework, a canvas you can paint your ideas, thought processes, and philosophies onto. Atria works based on trust, and never compromising that trust. My aim is to be always source available, and allow people to really see what goes on behind the mind of AI. And in doing so, create an AI that aligns with you in particular, not the millions of others that larger companies are trying to service. Think of Atria as the unreal engine of AI minds, the tools are in your hand, now go make something beautiful!
